Chief Court suspends illegal appointment in TB Control Program, Gilgit-Baltistan
Gilgit: The Chief Court of Gilgit-Baltistna, while hearing a petition filed by a local candidate Dr. Zaeem Zia, a hiuman rights activist against DG Health and TB control program, has declared the appointment of a non-local as illegal and suspended the individual appointed.
The petitioner had prayed to the Court to probe into the appointment of National Program Officer Gilgit-Baltistan, despite of having local candidates, a candidate from KPK was appointed. The Advertisement against the slot had categorically framed the eligibility criteria; however the petitioner claimed that the criteria were not followed.Dr. Zaeem named DG Health islamabad, Human Resource Manager TB Control program and appointed candidate among the respondents.
Earlier, Young Doctors Association Gilgit-Baltistan had threatened a boycott if illegal appointment was not suspended. However, YDA and PMA supported legal action against such appointments. They urged the government to take matter seriously. The local candidates were distressed and disappointed over such decisions PMA and YDA claimed.Both PMA and YDA appreciated the decision of Honorable Chief Court of Gilgit-Baltistan, and termed it as another victory of healthcare professionals of Gilgit-Baltistan.
