Barjees Tahir calls on President Mamnoon Hussain

Islamabad: The newly appointed Governor of Gilgit Baltistan Barjees Tahir, who is also the federal minister for KANA,today called on President Mamnoon Hussain at Aiwan-e-Sadr.

The President felicitated Governor Gilgit Baltistan Barjees Tahir on his appointment as Governor of Gilgit Baltistan. During the meeting, Governor Gilgit Baltistan Barjees Tahir briefed the President about issues being faced by Gilgit Baltistan.

It is pertinent to note that the appointment of Barjees Tahir as GB’s governor has become controversial and it has also caused uproar in the region. On the day of the oath-taking there were protesters in Gilgit, Skarud and Islamabad. In the federal capital the venue of the governor’s oath-taking was hurriedly changed in the last minute due to protests.

PTI and PPP have announced to challenge the appointment, calling it part of a rigging plan. Barjees has denounced such allegations.
