Mehdi Shah calls on NA deputy speaker, people’s welfare ‘top priority’

Islamabad, January 20: The Chief Minister Gilgit Baltistan Syed Mehdi Shah has said that uplift and welfare of masses and provision of basic amenities to them at their door steps was the top priority of his Government. This he said during his meeting with the Deputy Speaker National Assembly Faisal Karim Kundi in Islamabad on Friday. He said that several developmental projects have been initiated in GB since it has been given the status of province.
The Chief Minister appreciated the role of Deputy Speaker in conducting the proceedings of the National Assembly.
Earlier‚ the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly briefed the Chief Minister about working of the National Assembly.
Talking to the Chief Minister‚ the Deputy Speaker said that the present Parliament in the Country had passed record number of legislation including the historic 18th and 19th constitutional amendments.
He said that the parliament had paid special attention to the uplift of women‚ children and minorities.
He said more than two dozen bills were passed to empower the women and to protect their rights.
The Deputy Speaker said that the Opposition played a very positive and constructive role in the Parliament in passing out various laws in the Parliament.
