It is pertinent to note that Justice Arshad’s appointment as GB Chief Judge has been opposed by lawyers and members of the cabinet on grounds of merit. Even the GB Chief Minister, Syed Mehdi Shah, has said that he was not taken into confidence during the appointment.
Justice Rana and Mian Manzoor Wattoo are believed to be close friends.
