Section 144 imposed in all districts of GB, schools and offices closed

Gilgit, February 28: Section 144 (prevention of unlawful assembly) has been imposed in all seven districts of Gilgit – Baltistan. All schools and offices have been closed for three days.
Anticipating a public backlash against an attack on a passenger bus in Kohistan District, the GB government has banned assembly of two or more people. All processions and rallies have been banned and people have been instructed to not carry weapons.
Meanwhile, at least two people were injured by unknown assailants in firing incidents while another one was shot dead today in Gilgit city. The injured are reportedly residents of KP, while the murdered person hailed from Baseen locality of Gilgit city.
Hundreds of people gathered outside the DHQ Hospital and staged a protest demonstration against the killing of 16 innocent passengers in Kohistan.
Similar protest demonstrations were also organized in Nagar Valley of the Hunza – Nagar district, where protesters blocked the Karakuram Highway for traffic and raise slogans against the government and law enforcing agencies, for failing to protect lives of the innocent people.
Mammoth rallies were also held in Skardu and Ghanche district where protesters demanded action against the culprits.
The overall situation in Gilgit – Baltistan remained tense. Markets were closed and there was almost no traffic on the roads.
Karakuram Highway has been closed for all sorts of traffic. Vehicles coming from Gilgit have been stopped near Chilas while those going from Rawalpindi have been stopped at Bisham, Hazara Division of KP.
Dead bodies reached Gilgit
Dead bodies of all the victims reached Gilgit in the night, amid tight security.
All the bodies were shifted to District Headquarters Hospital Gilgit in the form of a caravan. From the hospital these bodies will be shifted to different valleys and villages.
Eight (8) of the victims belong to Nagar Valley, two (2) belong to Astore Valley and nine (9) are residents of Gilgit District.
