[Pictorial] Jashn-e-Azadi Pipeband Rally held in Gulmit, Gojal

Gulmit, August 14: The independence day of Pakistan was celebrated with zeal and zest in Gulmit, the Tehsil headquarters of Gojal Valley, Upper Hunza. Pipebands from across the region participated in a rally held in this connection. The rally was organized by Ismaili Silver Jubilee Band Gulmit and pipebands from Shishkat, Ghulkin and Chipursan and Shimshal participated in the event.
Mr. Sharif Khan, President of the Ismaili Regional Council for Hunza, was Chief guest and Mr. Raja Shahbaz Khan, former member of district council Gilgit was Mir-e-Mehfil.
The event was jointly organized by the Silver Jubilee Band, Govt. Boys High School Gulmit and Govt Girls High School Gulmit.
A separate event was held at the Girls High School, attended by local notables, parents and students, including government officials. Speeches, skits and tableaus were performed at the occasion by the students.
The performance of Tehmina, a young student of Girl Highs School, who represented Pakistan recently at a cultural exchange event in China was highly appreciated by the audience.
The Pipebands and students also performed a march past and saluted the national flag, in front of around a thousand people gathered specifically for the occasion.
