Film from Gilgit-Baltistan wins “Best Cinematography Award” in Bulgaria
Islamabad: “Šʉpʉn X̌ik – The Last Of The Wakhi Shepherdess”, a documentary film directed by Muhammad Zia, hailing from Gircha (Gojal), Hunza, has won the Best Cinematography Award at the 12th “Early Bird International Student Film Festival” held in Sofia, Bulgaria.
Produced by Essa Khan, the film’s cinematography has been done by Faym Avzl (Faheem Afzal), also from Gojal Hunza. As a reward, the young filmmakers will get funding for their next film project, along with a diploma, and a sculpture made by Elizar Milev.
It is pertinent to note that the film has officially been selected for screening at Eco Film Festival Mexico, Early Bird Film Festival, Bulgaria, Zero Plus International Film Festival Tyumen, Russia, One Country One Film festival, France, and Pakistan Film Calling Festival, Karachi.
