PT Report

Gilgit, September 28: The death spree continued on Sunday in Gilgit city, as unknown assailants gunned down Raja Ali Ahmad Jan, joint secretary of Pakistan Muslim League (Q), Gilgit – Baltistan.

According to police sources Ali Ahmad Jan was shot at in Konodas locality of Gilgit city, on Sunday evening. He was severely injured in the attack and breathed his last while being shifted to district headquarters hospital.

In another incident an engineer of Radio Pakistan, Jahanzeb, reportedly, had a lucky escape from indiscriminate firing opened by unknown people near Riaz Road, in the Jutial locality of Gilgit city.

Kaira has termed the unrest in Gilgit as a ploy against the democratic government and an effort to delay the polls, scheduled to be held in the mid of November, next month.

Addressing a press conference here, the IGP, Khursheed Alam, has said that material used in the improvised device that exploded at a local bookshop has similarities with the bomb hurled at Bagrote Hostel, two months back. He also claimed that master mind of these two  bomb attacks and the murder of deputy speaker, Syed Asad Zaidi, is the same person or group.

He also told the press that eight suspects, including two policemen, have been detained for allegedly being involved in firing and looting incidents on Saturday.

    Respected Dr Sabit Rahim

I apologize for not being able to answer the query quickly.

Raja Ali Ahmad Jan belonged to Hunza – Nagar district. His native town was Nilt – Nagar.

Pamir Times obtained this basic information very late so couldn’t post it as part of the news.

    Sorry again.
