[Energy Crisis] Reorganization of GB Power Department on cards

Gilgit, December 24: The Gilgit-Baltistan Power Department is being divided into three sub-bodies, for efficiency and effectiveness.

According to GB Minister for Power Wazir Shakil, the sub-bodies will focus on Power Generation, Distribution and Transmission.

The decision will improve the performance of each department and facilitate the people, the minister said. He also said that experts of concerned departments will be appointed on higher posts based on merit.

It is pertinent to mention that the whole region was hit by major power protests, and riots in Ishkoman, as thousands of people came to the roads due to unavailability of electricity. Huge protest demonstrations were also held in Skardu.
