Gilgit: IGP Asghar Hussain receives the arms provided to GB police by Pakistan Army

Our Correspondent

Gilgit, June 6: Arms worth 220 million rupees have been provided to the GB Police by Pakistan Army. The arms were given to outgoing IGP, Hussain Asghar, in presence of CM and the outgoing Chief Secretary.

Speaking at the occasion CM said that the police department will have to show better performance in the future.

It is pertinent to note that the salaries of police officials were doubled by the GB government last year but due to political and sectarian influences, as well as lack of arms and other equipments, the department’s performance remained abysmal. Dozens of people have been killed in different incidents during the last two years in Gilgit city alone but not a single culprit has been captured and punished, so far.

Public circles have hoped that the arms provided to the police department will help raise their efficiency and effectiveness in maintenance of law and order in the region.

  1. In civilized countries police force is trained on the basis’s of education and legal matters, while in Pakistan and specially in GB we are going to equip police force with arms and bolts. we need education not ignorance. The CM GB should educate the police force about legal matters, their responsibilities and honesty in their duties.Last year the same exercise was experienced in Ali Abad Hunza and Killed two innocent Father and son. we must learn from our experiences.

  2. I strongly agree to the opinion of Raza Muhammad. Police is safeguard citizens not to fight with enemies like Army. Educated leadership can understand this fact.
To educate other, someone must be educated fist. How can we expect this.
