Gilgit, January 20: Anti-Terrorism Court in Gilgit has sentenced one person, Saeed Alam, to death for murdering Maulana Ubaidur Rehman in 2012. Two people, Ammar and Muntazir Abbas, have been sentenced to life in prison in the same case.

Three people accused of the murder, Muhammad Ibrahim, Zafar Abbas and Adeeb Hussain have been set free.

Maulana Ubaidur Rehman was murdered on 30th November 2012 near Madina Hotel, in the proximity of Jaglote Ada.

The slain Maualana was a leader of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam.
