Gilgit, February 19: Police have claimed arresting of five robbers who are allegedly involved in robberies conducting in Jamatkhana Bazar and markets in the surrounding areas in the last week of January.

Briefing the media today, DIG Ali Sher and SP Zia Ali said that that five robbers were also involved in acts of thievery in Nomal and Jutial area. Police have also recovered the stolen merchandise and cash.

It is pertinent to note that around two dozen shops had been looted on the night of 25-26 January, 2014. The police officials said that the shopkeepers had inflated their loss claims to get more money in compensation.

The officials said that one of the arrested men has been sent to jail on judicial remand while the remaining four are under investigation.
