Islamabad, February 25: Oath-taking ceremony of the newly appointed Chairman and members of the Gilgit-Baltistan Services Tribunal took place at the GB House here in the federal capital. The newly appointed members include former law secretary Hafeezur Rehman, Fida Hussain, former bureaucrat and Khursheed Alam, a former district judge.

The oath was administered by Justice Sahib Khan, Chief Judge of the Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Court.

The oath-taking ceremony was attended by a large number of people including officials, representatives of civil society organizations and friends and family members.

It is pertinent to note that lawyer bodies in Gilgit have opposed the appointment of Fida Hussain and Hafeezur Rehman and they have also field a writ petition in the Chief Court to reverse the notification through which they were appointed.

  1. Many congratulations to new service tribunal team with expectations to make decisions on merit with effectively and efficiently. As far as lawyers have shown concern over this body need to clarify and rationalize the formation of body by decision makers to create tranquility and harmony in GB. we would suggest to arrange such types of ceremonies in Gilgit to reduces the expenses as Gb is already in financial crises.
