Chitral, March 18: A snow avalanche has killed two students, brother and sister, almost 35 kilometres away from Chitral Town, on the Garamchashma Road. There are also reports that an unidentified student accompanying the two ran towards safety in time and survived.

According to details shared by families members of the deceased students, the two were walking towards a school to appear in exams when they were hit by a massive snow avalanche, which also blocked the road for traffic.

The deceased were identified as Zakira and her brother Afsar Khan, children of Jan Khan, students of 10th grade. They belonged to Roni Village and their exam center was located in Shoghor Valley, according to reports.

Snowfall and rain in the Chitral valley has resulted in blockade of roads and the threats to passengers has also increased considerably.
