Imran Khan demands restoration of subsidy on wheat price for Gilgit-Baltistan
Islamabad, April 17: PTI Chief Iman Khan has said that it is the duty of the government to look after the people. He has said that by withdrawing subsidy on the price of wheat, the federal government has snatched bread from the mouth of the people.
According to a press release, Imran Khan has said that the Gilgit-Baltistan region has been a victim of neglect and wrong policies during successive governments for the last sixty years and that the region needs special attention. He has condemned the government’s decision to withdraw the wheat subsidy, demanding its immediate restoration.
It is pertinent to note that the price of a 40kilogram wheat has jumped from 800 rupees to 1400 during a very short of span of time, triggering wide protests across the seven districts of the region.
For the last three days, the Awami Action Committee has locked down the Gilgit-Baltistan region in a bid to get its charter of demands approved, which is topped by the wheat subsidy withdrawal issue.
