Gilgit, November 29: Unidentified assailants have thrashed three people manning a forest check post in Sai Jaglote area of Gilgit district. Two of the thrashed people worked for the Forest Department, deputed to monitor illegal transportation, while the third one was identified as a policeman. The attackers were reportedly armed and took away timber worth millions of rupees to Gilgit city after breaking a barrier established by the forest and forest department.
The police and forest officials have registered a case against the attackers. However, no arrest has been made so far.
The locals have protested against the Pari Bangla SHO, accusing him of failing to arrest people involved in similar criminal activities in the past. They have demanded appointment of a new SHO for the Pari Bangla Police Station.
