Sniffer Dogs Unit established in Gilgit-Baltistan Police
Gilgit: The Gilgit-Baltistan Police, as part of its efforts to build efficiency and effectiveness against crimes, has established a Sniffer Dog Unit. Initially two sniffer dogs have been procured to help the law enforcers in searching for explosives and ammunition.
Police spokesman Mubarak Jan said that the Sniffer Dog Unit will be headed by AIG Special Branch.
It is pertinent to note that a bomb disposal squad had also been established by the GB Police. Inspector General of Police Zafar Iqbal Awan today visited the Sniffer Dog Unit and advised the officials to take good care of the animals and use them effectively.
In the past the GB Police used to bring sniffer dogs from Islamabad to manage security for major events and VVIP movements.
