Senate standing committee briefed on Gilgit-Baltistan

SKARDU: The Senate Standing Committee on Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan Affairs received a details briefing from the high official of GB government in Skardu.

Secretary home Bilal Memon briefed the committee regarding the evolution of political system in GB, law and order situation, power generation project and potentials, tourism, Gilgit-Skardu road and the activities around China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

The meeting was chaired by the Chairman Senate Standing Committee on Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan Affairs Senator Professor Sajid Other committee members included Senator Haji Momin Khan Afridi, Senator Najma Hameed, senator Hameed Hassan and senator Khalida Parveen.

The briefing was also attended by Senior Minister Haji Taban, Member GBLA Kacho Imtiaz Haider, Major (rtd.) Muhammad Amin, member GB Council Wazir Ikhlaq, Commissioner Baltistan Asim Ayub and other officials.

The meeting was briefed about the ongoing projects in Gilgit-Baltistan.

Senator Sajid Mir assured the meeting to forward the recommendations to the concerned departments for completion of the projects at the earliest.

The committee member later visited Shigar form and received briefing on its restoration process.
