Sana Ullah Abbasi appointed new IGP of Gilgit-Baltistan

GILGIT: The Federal Government has appointed Sanaullah Abbasi as the new Inspector General of Police for Gilgit-Baltistan. He was posted in Karachi, Sindh.

Sanaullah Abbasi is a 21 grade officer of the Pakistan Police Service.

He was Incharge of the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), Sindh.

He headed investigation into the alleged extra-judicial murder of Naqeebullah Mehsud, whose murder led to a massive protest movement in the country. Sanaullah Abbasi had announced that Naqeebullah Mehsud was innocent, and that he was allegedly killed in a ‘fake encounter’.

Abbasi will replace Sabir Ahmad as the IGP of Gilgit-Baltistan.
