Reconstruction of Inclusive Islamic Society discussed during workshop at KIU, Gilgit

: Vice Chancellor Karakoram International University, Prof. Dr. Attaullah Shah has said that Paigham-e-Pakistan narrative is a key to counter extremism and a way forward on the path of peace and prosperity for the country. He emphasized that University faculty members must inculcate values of tolerance, tranquility and pluralism among youth to promote exclusivity and peaceful coexistence.  He further said that our armed forces are safeguarding geographical borders and Universities must play its role to secure ideological borders.

He was addressing at the concluding ceremony of two-day training workshop on ‘Reconstruction of an Inclusive Islamic society in Pakistan in the light of Paigham-e-Pakistan’ which was attended by representatives of religious seminaries, lawyers, journalists, members of civil society, faculty members and students of different public sector universities. The training workshop was jointly organized by Karakoram International University, Gilgit and Islamic Research Institute (IRI), International Islamic University, Islamabad.

Earlier, Dr. Muhamamd Zia ul Haq, Director General Islamic Research Institute highlighted positive outcomes of Paigham-e-Pakistan narrative and emphasized participants to contribute towards dissemination of common narrative to foil evil plans of enemies who wants to divide nation on sectarian, ethnic and linguistic lines.

Addressing the workshop, Home Secretary Gilgit-Baltistan Mr. Jawad Akram said that Pakistan is facing multiple conflicts which require attention and research at universities. He also lauded contribution of Karakoram International University for its peace building initiatives.

The workshop was also attended and addressed by Dr Kashif Mahmood representing Federal Government, Deputy Home Secretary Gilgit-Baltistan Mr. Babar Shabuddin Prof. Dr. Ejaz representing National Defense University, Dr Syed Hassan Rizvi representing University of Lahore, Faculty member of LUMS Lahore Miss Habiba, Dr Manzoor Ali, Provost, Karakoraom International University and other distinguished personalities.

In the end, Director General IRI Dr Muhammad Zia ul Haq presented Souvenir and publications of IRI to Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Attaullah Shah and Vice Chancellor also presented University Shield to distinguished guests and also distributed certificates among the participants.
