GILGIT: The Gilgit-Baltistan Police has launched a thorough investigation to uncover policemen connected with terrorist groups. The investigation was launched after arrest of several policemen, based on tip-offs offered by terrorists arrested from different parts of Gilgit-Baltistan.
IGP Sanaullah Abbasi made these revelations during a meeting with journalists yesterday in his office. He further added that other government officials will also be investigated over links with terrorists.
A joint team of Pakistan Army and GB Police had arrested a number of policemen, and other officials, during the crackdown launched in the wake of the burning of schools, and a fatal attack on Police Checkpost in Kargah Nallah.
The IGP has said that educational institutions are at risk, but the law enforcement agencies are working hard to prevent any untoward incident. He has also said that a Brigade of Pakistan Army is busy in fighting militants and terrorists in the region.
