Pak-China border at Khunjerav reopening on 1st April

HUNZA: The Pak-China border at Khunjerav will reopen on April 1st, 2019, after remaining clear during the winter season.

According to a notification issued by the Gilgit-Baltistan Home Department, the border crossing will stay open till November 30th, 2019, in line with the 1985 protocol agreement signed by the governments of Pakistan and China.

The border crossing is closed during the severe winters because the area, located 15,000 ft above sea-level, receives several feet of snow.

The Khunjerav border crossing is the only existing road link between Pakistan and China. It is a vital component of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.
