Five arrested for Gilgit killings
GILGIT, Dec 27: Police have arrested five persons in overnight raids following the killing of five members of a family in a roadside shooting near Naikoi area, Northern Areas Home Secretary Mohammad Usman Younis told Dawn on Saturday.
Mr Younis said police had found clues to the cause of the gruesome murder of Director Agriculture Abdul Wahid and four of his relatives, adding that the culprits would be unmasked shortly.
A police official requesting anonymity said the detainees were being interrogated and details would be made public soon.
He declined to give further details in view of the sensitivity of the matter.
Meanwhile, Force Command Northern Areas Commander Maj-Gen Muzamil Hussain, Northern Areas Chief Secretary Babar Yaqoob Fateh Mohammad, Inspector-General of Police Khurshid Alam Khan and Home Secretary Mohammad Usman Khan have condemned the incident and expressed condolences to the bereaved family.
