Transparent mechanism for GB timber disposal urged

Islamabad, February 10, 2016: Transparent mechanism should be devised for disposal of jungle wood in district Diamer, Gilgit-Baltistan, State Minister for Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry has said.

Chairing a meeting of Special Committee on disposal of jungle wood in Diamer district, he directed Secretary Forest to forward recommendations through Gilgit-Baltistan Council and submit report within a week time. The committee, constituted on directives of the Prime Minister, was briefed about the disposal of the jungle wood, said a press release.

The meeting was attended by Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Chaudhry Muhammad Barjees Tahir, State Minister for Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) and member Gilgit-Baltistan Council Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, member GB Council MNA Asfanyar Bhandara, CM Gilgit Baltistan Hafiz Hafeez ur Rehman and Forest Minister GB Haji Muhammad Wakeel, Federal Secretary for Kashmir Affairs Abid Saeed, Joint Secretary GB Council and others.

Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan said a transparent timber policy should be devised. Forests of GB should be saved from destruction.—APP
