Gulmit Shah-e-Chiragh Football Club has won GPL 2016
Gulmit, August 11: Gulmit Shah-e-Chiragh Football Club defeated Mountain Boys Gulmit (MBG), 3-0, in the final match of the fourth Gulmit Premier League Football Tournament.
The white shirts dominated the game after scoring a goal on a penalty kick. They scored two more goals in the second half of the match. MGB players tried hard to score against Gulmit Shah-e-Chiragh (GSC) but failed.
Amir Khan of GSC was declared player of the final match, while Sarfaraz Ahmad won the title of Man of the series. 16 teams from Gulmit participated in the sport event organized by Gulmit Young Stars Club, a local youth organisation.
Prominent political figure Muhammad Raziq was chief guest at the occasion. He appreciated the organizers for managing a major sports event. He also announced cash prize for the winning and runner-up team. He donated 1 lak rupees to organizers of the tournament. Donations and prizes were also announced by other people present at the occasion.
This year’s tournament had been attributed to the memories of four young people from Gulmit who had passed away in a car accident earlier this year, and other deceased members of the village community.
The final match was seen by a large number of people, including women and children, from Gulmit and neighboring villages.
