Hunza, Nov 29: The newly constructed Gilgit Bailyey Bridge will be opened for traffic today. According to National Highway Authority (NHA), the Chief Secretary Northern Areas, Babar Yaqub Fateh Muhammad is likely to inagurate the 150 metre long bridge constructed by a Chinese company.
The collapse of the Danyore bridge, on August 09 not only created problems for the traffic between China and Pakistan but also resulted in a sharp hike in commodity prices in Hunza, Nagar and other parts of Gilgit. This also sharply decreased the marketing prices of the local potato. The petrol pump owners in Hunza and Nagar also charged Rs 1:20 in access from the actual prices of petrol and diesel.
The local community is now in hope to recheck this artificial price hikes in local markets.
Excellent news Zulfi, please have a pic of the new bridge on the blog as well.
cheers …HK
