Environment day at KIU

Gilgit, June 5: World Environment Day was celebrated at Karakuram International University with joint partnership of the Northern Areas Environmental Protection Agency (NAEPA), KIU, AKRSP, Tourism and Environment Department NA, IUCN, Program for Mountain Area Conservancy (PMAC) and Serena Hotels Pakistan, under the theme “Your Planet Needs You-Unite to Combat Climate Change”.
It reflects the urgency for nations to agree on a new deal at the crucial climate convention meeting in Copenhagen some 180 days later in the year, and the links with overcoming poverty and improved management of forests. Government and non government officials, community representatives, school students, boy’s and girl’s scouts, research and academic institutions, Karakuram International University faculty members and students, local notables including members of the Northern Areas Legislative Assembly were amongst the participants. Researchers and students gave presentations on the issue of Global Warming. The Chief Guest Mr. Abdul Hameed, Advisor Tourism, Transport, Minerals, Sports and Cultural addressed on the occasion and distributed shields and certificates among the participants.
A photography competition was also held among KIU student on environment and environmental issues i.e. green and brown areas. Mrs. Noor Ul Ain, Advisor Education & Social Welfare distributed Shields and certificates to the Photography competition participants.
The purpose of celebrating Environment day at the KIU was to disseminate information and raise awareness amongst stakeholders, communities, partners, Corporate sector, schools and decision makers about the environment and environmental issues of Northern Areas.

WHAT ARE IN THE DAYS AND MONTHS— ACTION IS LIFE DAYS AND MONTHS ARE CONTROLLED BY THE UNSEEN POWER THAT IS BEYOUND WORDS DEEDS, VISION, THOUGHTS, KNOWLEDGE, SCIENCES etc.
MY HUMBLEREQEST FOR THE SAKE OF GOD DON’T ORGANISE THE SLOGANS FOR FUNDING AND BEGGING UTALISE THE LOCAL AVAILABLE RESOURCES AND POTENTIALS TO HEAL THE ENVIRONMENT OF GILGIT-BALTISTAN—-
to some extent i second this guy above, how many plants each of the organizers has planted this year? how many did each of them planted last year? and how many trees they plan to plant next year….they all probably gathered there, met some old friends, enjoyed “refreshment” after the “awareness program”….drank tea and soda in disposable cups, which they threw all around in the face of their mother earth later…and then, occupied their “Hybrid” eco-friendly smoke less NCP cars and cruised back home….the ones who actually need the awareness are the ones who were not aware of such a program being held in a hall filled up with people in black suits and red neck ties….
