Skardu accident takes 34 lives

SKARDU: At least 34 people were killed or went missing when a speedy coach skidded off the road and plunged into Indus River here Thursday morning, reports ARY NEWS.

The bus with 35-40 passengers on board was on its way from Skardu to Rawalpindi when it veered off the road near Malopi Rindu area and fell into the river as its driver lost control over the steering.

According to initial reports the accident was a result of the breaks-failure of the ill-fated bus.

Locals and area police reached the accident site soon after and were carrying out relief activities, reports the channel.

  2. It is really a shocking news that 34 precious lives were lost in a sad accident.

    I have just returned travelling by road on the KKH. The Karakorum Highway is really in a very bad shap as it seems the authorities have no plan to maintain it. To my rough estimate, there is a “Khadda” after every 10 meters and it is really dangerous for precious lives and also for the vehicles playing on the KKH.
