Traders protest against arrest of colleagues

Gilgit, August 25: Shopkeepers and traders of Colonel Hassan Market and Cinema Bazar blocked the main road in Gilgit city for about an hour, protesting against the detention of some of their colleagues by the local police.
According to reports three shopkeepers, including Sabir Hussain of Sabir Medicos, were arrested by the police after August 17 protests broke out in the city.
The protesting traders wanted action against “danda bardar force”, which allegedly forced the shopkeepers to shut close their shops in the wake of the murder of Ali Sher Hyderi. They also wanted the damaged to their property to be compensated by the governments.
The protest was finsihed after a magistrate and some police officials assured the traders that their concerns will be communicated to the higher ups. The traders have demanded release of the detained shop keepers by 11 O’clock, tomorrow.
