Mysterious blast destroys a building in Skardu, 25 hurt

Skardu, November 3: A 4-room motel was destroyed in Skardu on Wednesday night as a result of a mysterious blast that injured up to 25 people.

According to details, a 4-room motel in the Wazirabad locality of Skardu city caught fire after being hit by a huge blast. Sound of the blast was heard throughout the city. Houses close to the motel shook due to impact of the blast.

The injured have been shifted to hospitals.

A large number of people gathered at the site of the blast and took part in rescue and relief activities, along with officials of the district administration. The fire was put off after a lot of struggle by the local people and relevant organizations.

Exact nature of the blast could not be ascertained immediately. However, there are reports that explosive material may have been present inside the building, causing the huge blast.

Chief Minister Mehdi Shah has ordered detailed investigation report of the blast incident.
