Before joining the judiciary, Syed Jafar Shah was a prominent lawyer and a leader of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).
His political career was mixed because he could not get votes from supporters in the capital city of Gilgit – Baltistan.

Shah sab. Congratulation on holding high position in the field of justice. It is good news for all of us that a son of our own soil has acquired such a position. The sons of GB had also hold positionsof justice in England as well. Many justices have made a name in the history of GB judiciary. Your colleagues raja jalal and nawaz abbasi had earned a good name in serving the community of Gb. At the same lines we would expect you that you would further accelarate this tempo and eradicate the smell of cast, creed, and sect. Basic human rights are violated and threatened in Gb. therefore all responsible and competent authorities are expected to play your role to mentoring and monitoring the systems.
