Public should accept 3 rupees per kg hike in wheat price: Wazir Baig

Gilgit, February 19: Speaker Lagislative Assembly Wazir Baig has stood up to defend the increase in price of wheat and urged the people to stay patient over the issue.
Talking to media he said the wheat price had increased only 3 Rs per kilogram and this “minor increase should be accepted because transportation charges have also double due to hike in petroleum prices”.
Answering a query about the protest on the issue he said, “Ghizar is a land of martyrs therefore people of the district should not stage protest only for bread but they should demand cadet college and big hospital for their area”.
He said no man would die of hungr on account of hike in price of wheat adding that opponents of the government would not succeed to make fool of the people.
Mean while Chief Minister Mehdi Shah also rejected the imperssion that his government had withdrawn the subsidy on the wheat addressing to a gathering in skardu he said subsidy was a gift of Z A Bhutto for the people of the region.
“How my government can take back this gift”, he questioned.
He revealed that centeral governmet has assured to pay dues of 13 billion Rs to Pasco on behalf of the Gilgit Baltistan.
