Snow avalanche hits village in Rondu

March 5: A snow avalanche has hit Talu Broq village of Rondu sub-division, in Skardu District, Baltistan.

According to sources the avalanche has affected three houses and some cattle sheds. The avalanche, reportedly, hit the village on early Monday morning. Eight families have, reportedly, been affected due to the destruction caused by the avalanche.

It is pertinent to note that with the arrival of spring the frequency of snow avalanches increases in the mountains areas of Gilgit – Baltistan and Chitral.
