Govt approves 550 new posts for food ministry

March 13: The Gilgit Baltistan governmet on Tuesday approved a proposal for creation of 550 new posts in the Ministry of Food.
The food ministry had informed the government that it was facing the problems in running the official business on account of shortage of manpower. The ministry had presented the proposal to create 1000 new posts however provincial government approved only 550 posts because of the financial difficulties.
The posts are likely to be advertised soon and the government has vowed to make all the appointments on merit.
The members of GBLA have been taken into confidence before creation of the positions, sources have informed.
It is pertinent to note that in the past allegation of cronyism and nepotism have been leveled against the GB Food Minister, Jafar, who has rejected the blames.
