Anjuman Taraqi Khowar demands Civil Award for Rehmat Aziz Chitrali

ISLAMABAD – The Anjuman-e-Tarraqui-e-Khowar Karachi Branch, Khowar Academy and intellectuals demanded on Friday that a civil award be granted and a road in KPK may be named as Rehmat Aziz Chitrali avenue to acknowledge his contributions to Khowar and Urdu literature and journalism. Talking to this correspondent Hussain ali, a chitrali said the Anjuman-e-Tarraqui-e-Khowar Karachi and Khowar Academy had repeatedly approached the authorities in this regard, but no action had been taken. He said the khowar litrary associatiion’s request to the KPK governor for granting a Civil Award to Rachitrali is awaited.
Rehmat aziz Chitrali, born 1970) is a Khowar and Urdu poet, author, human rights activist, journalist of Mirandeh Khot Valley Chitral Khyber Pakhtun khwa. He is Pakistani human and Children rights activist from the town of Khot Valley in Chitral District, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and is known for being a youth’s rights activist and mother tongue language activist. At 37 years old he gained notability for championing the cause of the people of Chitral by blogging for the wikipedia under a pseudonym name Rachitrali about the atrocities of the Tehrik-i-Talibanregime. He has created a khowar language Wikipedia for the promotion of Khowar language of Chitral Pakistan. The Government of Pakistan, Ministry of Education National Book Foundation included Rehmat Aziz Chitrali among the nominees for the Children Literature Commendation Certificate, making him the first Chitrali boy nominated for the children award.
Rehmat Aziz Chitrali lived in Khot Valley, Chitral, Khyber Pakhtun Khwa Pakistan. During the Taliban regime he created Khowar Wikipedia and wrote khowar language articles for Wikipedia on the topics of education, basic issues, human rights, children rights, mother tongue preservation. He wrote many khowar language articles for Wikipedia under the pseudonym of “Rachitrali” where he discussed about the regional languages rights and preservation of minor languages of Northern Pakistan.
For her courageous and outstanding services for the promotion of peace, promotion of regional languages and creation of khowar language Wikipedia, he was awarded Shandoor award for Khowar journalism, Shandoor Award for Khowar literature, CHDWO Award for social work by the Pakistani NGOs, national and international literary associations.
Speaking to the media, he expressed his intent to work for the promotion and preservation of Chitrali languages of Northern Pakistan.
He was khowar news editor of Khyber News TV and host of the show ”Chetraro Hawaz”(Voice of Chitral). He has written for daily Baadeshimal, daily k2, Chitral Vision, daily Baang-e-Sahar, Monthly Shandoor, Monthly Chand, Monthly Zarafat and occasionally contributed to Wikipedia.
Rehmat Aziz was born into a family from Chitral district. He is the younger brother of Rehmat Gul Subedar of Chitral Scouts and son of Social worker Dur Khan. Aziz is married, has 2 children, and lives in Chitral, KPK, Pakistan.
In the late 1999s, Aziz ran the entertainment TV show ”Sunday Brunch” on Pakistan Television Corporation(PTV) Karachi Center with Rashid Sami. Later, after the opening of Khyber News TV, he started another program called ”Chetraro Hawaz”.
He established Anjuman-e-Tarraqui-e-Khowar’s Karachi office and headed the team. He has held key positions of Editor, Resident Editor, Managing Editor.
