GB Professors and Lecturer’s Association to boycott classes if promotion demands not met
PT Report
Gilgit, March 16: The Gilgit – Baltistan Professors and Lecturers Association (GBPLA) has deplored the government’s lack of seriousness in resolving the issues being faced by the fraternity. In a press statement, the Association has said that the government has failed to take any action with respect to promotion of the lecturers and assistant professors. “The issue of promotion has been pending for almost one year without any apparent reason”, a strongly worded statement released at the end of a meeting held today read. “It shows the inefficiency of the government at one hand and their lack of seriousness on the other.”
The PLA has announced that if the issue is not taken on priority basis the lecturers and assistant professors in GB will initially go to the classrooms wearing black strips on their arms, as a sign of protest, from March 25 – March 31. If the issue is still unresolved they will boycott the classes indefinitely, till acceptance of their demand.
The meeting held today was chaired by Owais Ahmed and attended by Rahat Shah, Hasan Dilshad, Rafi, Ishtiaq Ahmed Yaad, Gul Nasreen and Shama Lal.
