ASWJ leader held in connection with rally firing case, Qazi Nisar announces protest drive

March 28: Police in Gilgit have arrested Deputy Secretary General of Tanzeem Ahl-e-Sunnat Wal Jammat, Maulana Attaullah Saqib. In reaction the ASWJ chief, Qazi Nisar, has announced a protest drive, demanding release of the Maulana Saqib and others detained by law enforcing agencies.
According to details, SP Gilgit on Wednesday morning invited Mulana Saqib for a meeting at his office. When Maulana Saqib reached the SP office police officials gave him full protocol and tea was also served. After meeting he was taken to the investigation wing where he was told that he had been arrested in connection with Sharot rally firing case. Later he was shifted to police station for investigation.
Meanwhile hundreds of workers of Tanzeem Ahle Sunnat staged a protest demonstration against the detention of his leader and chanted slogans against the government.
Addressing to the gathering Himayat Ullah and other leaders of the organization termed the arrest of Mulana Saqib unjust and blamed that government of being biased towards Ahle Sunnat.
He said that the government is in pressure of a particular group and Ahle Sunnat is being subject of injustice.
Chief of Tanzeem Ahle Sunnat, Maulana Qazi Nisar has announced a day of protest on Thursday (today). He also appealed to the traders for a shutter-down strike against the arrest of leaders and workers of the organization.
