AKES Career Expo attracts thousands of people

Karachi – Aga Khan Education Service, Pakistan (AKES,P) – an agency of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) organised a career expo at the Aga Khan Higher Secondary School, Karachi today. The second in the series of expos organised by AKES,P, this expo was a unique opportunity for students, parents and mid-career professionals to learn about emerging careers, renowned universities, foreign education options and scholarships.

The AKES Career Expo provided the participants with an opportunity to meet representatives of renowned national universities and foreign consultancy firms and get one-to-one career guidance by  professionals and field experts. Large number of students flocked to the “Career Guru Zone” for an on-the-spot interview and for individualised career guidance by professionals belonging to fields such as aeronautical engineering, telecommunication engineering, architecture, business administration, allied health, fine arts & performing arts, social sciences and many more.

More than 20 top ranked higher education institutions of Pakistan including Aga Khan University (AKU), Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), Institute of Business Administration (IBA), National University of Science and Technology (NUST), NED University of Engineering and Technology, and other renowned educational institutions participated in this expo.

The expo also hosted a separate segment of information sessions on various careers ranging from Medical Sciences, Engineering, Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences by the representatives of different leading universities and professional organisations. Officers from the Pakistan Army and Pakistan Air force were also present at the event to brief participants about their educational / training programmes and career opportunities.

Dr. Sadruddin Pardhan, Head of Operations, AKES,P while speaking at the occasion, said that ”the Career Expo is yet another initiative of AKES,P to reach out to thousands of students and provide them with an opportunity to become life-long  learners and potential leaders who will go on to the best universities anywhere in the world and pursue careers of their choice”.

Students were also informed about educational opportunities present outside Pakistan mainly in USA, Canada, UK, Australia, Germany and Dubai by the leading firm HR Consultant while British Council Pakistan and United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP) also provided guidance to students on scholarship options for higher education.

The event saw the participation of thousands of students who were given an opportunity to learn about the different aspects of their career under one roof. Also present at the event were many government dignitaries, AKDN officials and various educational institution officials.
