Anti-polio vaccination drive launched in Gilgit-Baltistan

Gilgit, October 12: The Gilgit-Baltistan government formally started the anti-polio vaccination drive in the region. An inaugural ceremony was held at Serena Hotel in Gilgit, attended by GBLA Speaker Wazir Baig, Minister for Water and Power, Wazir Shakil, other dignitaries and officials of the GB Health Department, including Health Secretary, Saad Sikandar.

The anti-polio drive commenced after the GBLA Speaker administered polio vaccine to the child. The same was also performed by other dignitaries.

Speaking at the occasion, GBLA Speaker said that the more funds will be allocated in the next budget for health and education.

Saad Sikandar, Secretary Health, said that special attention is being paid to vaccinate the children in remote parts of the Diamer district.
