World Wetlands Day celebrated in Ishkoman, Ghizer

Gilgit, February 2 (PR): World Wide Fund for Nature Pakistan, Saving Wetlands Sky high (SWSH) Programme celebrated world wetlands day (WWD) in collaboration with Qurumbar Social Welfare Conservation and Development Organization (QSWCDO), Proper Ishkoman Development Organization (PIDO) and line departments of Ghizer on 2nd February 2013 at Immit, Qurumbar valley, district Ghizer.

The theme of the WWD was “Wetlands and Water management”. The objectives of the event were to raise awareness among the community and other stakeholder about wetlands and their biodiversity in general and water management in specific. A total of 200 students and community members’ participated in the event from Qurumbar and Ishkoman valleys.Mr. Mohammad Zafar khan Chairman, PIDO was chief guest, he said in his speech WWF – Pakistan is active in the Ghizer district since 2000s for conservation of natural resource in general while wetlands and their biodiversity in specific. He appreciated SWSH team and QSWCDO members for their active participation.
