Chief Minister directs officials to finalize “Minerals Rules” for Gilgit-Baltistan

Gilgit, October 7: Chief Minister Syed Mehdi Shah has told a delegation of the Gems and Minerals Association of Gilgit-Baltistan that the government would take necessary steps to cease illegal mining in the region. He also assured the delegation that a new law will be enacted soon to safeguard the region’s mineral resources, with the help of all stakeholders.

The CM has said that enacting of the “Minerals Rules” will not only ensure protection of the resources, but it will also help promote the trade of the raw materials and finished products.

He directed the Secretary of the Minerals Department to finalize “Mining Rules” till the next cabinet meeting.

  1. It is too late CM sab. GBIANS had great expectations with new set up but instead of streamlining the systems it deteriorated more. At least try to restore the trust of people on new set up through applying good governance rules.

  2. Good governance is 100 miles away— lets hope and build expectations from the new setup that takes charge after next years election.
