Gilgit, October 8: The National Disaster Awareness Day was marked by a rally and an exhibition, jointly organized by the district administration, Focus Humanitarian Assistance Pakistan and Rescue 1122.
Participants of the rally included school children and district officials.
Later, an exhibition was also held in which various organizations had exhibited their products and information material about disaster risk reduction. The exhibition was visited by a large number of people including government representatives.
The National Disaster Awareness Day is organized annually in memory of the thousands of people who died on 8th October 2005, in Pakistan’s worst earthquake disaster. Activities are held across the country on this day to inform the people about safer living and preparedness for natural disasters.
