Gilgit, March 12: The Chief Secretary of Gilgit-Baltistan Muhammad Younas Dagha has said that all doors for corruption and illegal appointments in government departments of Gilgit-Baltistan have been closed. He said that no compromise will be made in matters related to corruption, adding that an Anti Corruption Department will soon become functional in the region.

He was talking to the senior journalists of the regional capital in his office on Wednesday. In response to a question, the top bureaucrat in Gilgit-Baltistan said that all illegal appointments have been cancelled in line with the recommendations of inquiries committees and more then 500 vacant positions in both departments (Education and Excise and Taxation) will be re-advertised within a week. He assured that appointments on the vacated positions will be made on pure merit and any kind of pressure will be accepted in this regard.

” A summary for creation of 1500 new posts in the Education Department has been sent to the federal government for final approval”, he added, reassuring that the new appointments will be made transparently, through proper channels.

Responding to another question, Dagha declared that 2015 will be the Load-Shedding-Free year for Gilgit-Baltistan. He also issued special directives to cut off all special electricity connections including that of his own office.
