Gilgit, May 8: The headquarters of Hunza-Nagar district remains unmarked and undefined, despite of a lapse of four years. The PPP government failed to resolve the issue during its tenure.

A committee formed for resolving the issue four months back has yet to meet and even start discussing the issue. The committee has also not visited the Hunza-Nagar district yet.

Speaking today in the Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly MLA Mutabiat Shah raised the issue and said that the committee members have failed to meet to discuss the issue and visit the region to resolve the row.

He questioned the Law Minister, who is also head of the committee formed for resolving the headquarters, on how the local government bill can be approved without resolving the Hunza-Nagar headquarters issue? He feared that the issue will intensify during the local bodies’ elections.

In response, the law minister said that the committee members’ absence is the main reason behind the delay. He also promised to table a report on the issue within 20 days, on the insistence of the Deputy Speaker Jamil Ahmad, who was chairing the 6th sitting of the 35th session of GBLA.
