Media should highlight women’s issues and concerns, Senator Pervaiz Rashid
Islamabad (PR): Senator Pervaiz Rashid, Minister for IB&NH, who also holds the portfolio of Law, Justice and Human Rights stated in a meeting with the Members of the National Commission on the Status of Women headed by Ms. Khawar Mumtaz, Chairperson of the Commission today in Islamabad.
He said that the present democratic government is committed to ensure the women empowerment as their participation will not only help in the sustainable development but would also raise the true and democratic image of Pakistan. We believe in awarding them equal opportunities in all spheres of public activities without any discrimination, the Minister emphasized. He told that Ministry of Law, Justice and Human Rights is making all out efforts to safeguard the women rights in collaboration with all relevant stake holders.
He urged the media to raise public awareness regarding women issues as it would help them in playing a proactive role. Ms. Khawar Mumtaz briefed the Minister regarding the functioning of NCSW and discussed various issues pertaining to the effective working of the Commission. The Minister assured the members regarding the resolution of their issues.
