Vice president Gilgit-Baltistan Bar Council deplores disregard for courts
Gilgit, May 25: (PR) Newly elected Vice Chairman of Gilgit Baltistan Bar Council, Mr. Shehbaz Khan Advocate has showed his great concerns and displeasure on the occurrence of most recent incidents of gross violations of orders of the Honorable GB Chief Court by the government functionaries confronting dignity and integrity of the Apex Judiciary of Gilgit Baltistan.
In a press statement, Khan has “strongly condemned the unlawful, willful and contemptuous acts of disobedience of the orders of the apex Chief Court Gilgit Baltistan” by Secretary Law, Home & Finance of GB Government.
Mr. Shehbaz Khan Advocate opined that such kind of situation will lead to anarchy like situation in Gilgit Baltistan encouraging the criminals and law breakers to defy and disobey the orders of the courts. Mr. Khan vowed that such kind of acts resulting undermining the sanctity & dignity of the GB Judiciary shall not be tolerated at all and respect for judiciary shall be maintained by the legal fraternity of Gilgit Baltistan at any cost.
Mr. Shehbaz Khan Vice Chairman showed his disappointment on the eye closing policy of Chief Minister, having powers of executive authority of Gilgit Baltistan on this unpleasant situation, and not taking any disciplinary actions against his subordinate government functionaries so far.
If aggrieved from any order of the Honorable GB Chief Court, Instead of taking legal course, absconding from the arrest, passing objectionable remarks, calling of Secretaries Meeting and arranging protest rally of Secretariat Functionaries up to Governor House and Pen Drop Strike and thereafter issuance of an official press release to press and media by the Government functionaries, is the highest kind of contempt in its nature and first kind of its precedent in the governing & judicial system of the word as well.
Mr. Khan regretted that instead of taking any stern disciplinary actions against those officials , as reported in the news papers, mere issuance of instructions by the Chief Secretary GB, to the Secretaries concerned of GB Government, to respect the judiciary and to avoid calling of Secretaries Meeting because of falling of this authority under “his domain”, is a half hearted instruction just to defuse the situation and not a sufficient action against the responsible officials warranted under the law.
Mr. Shehbaz Khan Advocate, told, that an emergency meeting of the Representative Bar Associations of GB Supreme Appellate Court Bar Association, GB High Court Bar Association & District Bar Associations of Gilgit / Skardu / Diamer /Ghziar / Ghanchae / Astore/ Hunza-Nagar is being called to be held on 2nd June 2014 to discuss the current situation. Very important decisions shall be taken in this meeting to go ahead for taking very effective, prompt and concrete steps/actions, in addition to submission of various contempt applications before the Honorable Apex Courts to ensure dignity and integrity of the Judiciary and supremacy of law in Gilgit Baltistan.
