Allegations of Hajj Scam malafide, says Karavan owner

Islamabad, May 26: The owner of the Hajj Karavan that was accused of swindling 72 pilgrims has categorically denied the accusations terming the scam a pack of lies. He has said that the money submitted by the people for performing the Hajj is with him and the people can take their money back whenever they want.

Giving details to Pamir Times on phone, the daughter of the Karavan owner who was accused of malpractice said that their compnay has been operating Hajj tours for the last 17 years and that they were doing so with the permission and knowledge of the relevant ministry.

She also said that the Press Release demanding transparent investigation sent by the CM’s office was sent without Mehdi Shah’s knowledge.

She said that the reporter who “broke” the story has already apologized from the Karavan’s owners for the false report, based on which the CM office had taken a notice.

It is pertinent to note that the Pamir Times had posted a report yesterday based on a Press Release sent by the CM’s secretariat. However, apparently, the statement attributed to the CM was not vetted being sent to the press.
