PRCS reaches out to 45 disaster hit families in Skardu and Ghizer

Gilgit, August 8: Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) Gilgit-Baltistan Provincial Branch reached out to more than 45 disaster affected families of Skardu and Ghizer districts, providing them non-food relief items included Tents, tarpaulin sheets,hygiene kids and first aid posts keeping in view the vulnerability and needs of the affected communities.

According to a press release issued by (PRCS) Provincial Headquarters Gilgit on Friday, more than 22 families of village Asomer Tehsil Ishkoman of Ghizer district who were affected by highly river erosion a few months back have been provided tents, tarpaulin sheets and hygiene kids which have been distributed by the PRCS team lead by Disaster Management Manager Shafiq Ahmed. While a number of 23 flood affected families of village Shawaran Tehsil Gultari of district Skardu have been provided with the same packages included quilts and first aid posts by PRCS district branch Skardu in light with a detailed assessment made by PRCS staff and trained volunteer crops. The relief goods have been approved by PRCS Provincial Secretary Gilgit-Baltistan Noor-ul-Ain.

“Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) Gilgit-Baltistan has been actively involved in relief and rehabilitation of the victims of natural and man induced disasters at regional level since 2007 among which the quick and effective response to the Attabad mega disaster of Hunza, distractions due to heavy flash flood in Talis Ghanche and monsoon flood 2010 are the hallmarks of the organization, said PRCS Provincial Secretary Gilgit-Baltistan Noor-ul-Ain”. She said that the PRCS National Headquarters Islamabad has approved relief goods for the recent earthquake affectees of village Roundu of Skardu district which will be soon distributed among the affected communities.
