Giglit: Mir Shakilur Rehman & Veena Malik among others declared absconders in blasphemy case
Gilgit: An anti-terrorism court in Gilgit has reportedly declared the owner of Jang Media Group, Mir Shakilur Rehman, actress Veena Malik, her husband Asad Malik and anchor Shaista Lodhi as absconders, after the accused did not appear in the court today. They were ordered to appear in the court by the 1st of September, reportedly, through a public notice.
The court had earlier, in May, issued arrest warrants of these people while hearing a case filed against them by a citizen for allegedly using defamatory and blasphemous content against the family of the Holy Prophet, Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH).
The public notice has been given by Judge Shahbaz Khan of the Anti-Terrorism Court in Gilgit, a copy of which received through a Gilgit based jounralist is posted bloew. The cases against Mir Shakilur Rehman, Veena Malik, Asad Malik and Shaista Lodhi had been filed in Baseen Police Station, located in the vicinity of Gilgit.
