Electricity Bills: Govt biggest defaulter in Gilgit-Baltistan
Gilgit, September 18: The Chief Minister and Chief Secretary Secretariat and the Deputy Commissioner’s office, are among the biggest defaulters in Gilgit-Baltistan, in terms of non-payment of electricity bills, it has been learnt.
According to details, the Power department is considering strict action against the defaulters and a list of 10 top defaulters has reportedly been prepared in this regard.
According to details shared with the media, the government departments owes 11 crore 77 lac 80 thousands in terms of unpaid electricity bills. Several non-governmental and private organizations, reportedly, have to pay around 67 lac rupees to the Power department.
Simultaneously, raids were also conducted in Gilgit city to arrest people involved in electricity theft. Two men, Rafillah (Konodas) and Kabir Ahmad (Muslim ColonY), were rounded up by police on the charges of stealing electricity. Both of the arrested men were allegedly involved in stealing electricity for their wood factories.
